El Tiempo (Colombia) An office of The Weather in Medellin. Time is a Colombian newspaper founded on 30 January 1911 by Alfonso Villegas Restrepo. It is currently the most widely read newspaper in Colombia and for seven years, virtually the only national crisis due to its rival El Espectador, who in 2001 became a weekly newspaper before returning to be daily in 2008. Its majority shareholders are the Metro Group, which acquired the majority of shares in August 2007, and members of the Holy Family. It is the basis of a media conglomerate known as Casa orial El Tiempo (CEET). In 1913 it was bought by Eduardo Santos Montejo, who was or of the newspaper until 1976. On 30 October 2006, knew the possibility of sale or to form a “strategic partnership”, materialized with the purchase by Metro. Its average circulation Monday through Saturday is 240,964 copies, which in the Sunday ion amounted to 475,046 (2004).
